Reflections

Eager reader of history, mystery, classics, biographies, steampunk, lit fic, science, scifi, and etc. My reviews are mostly positive--I rarely finish or write about books I don't enjoy. My TBR is too high for that.

Mary Stewart, British Writer Who Spanned Genres, Dies at 97

The Moon-Spinners - Mary Stewart Madam, Will You Talk? - Mary Stewart The Crystal Cave - Mary Stewart Airs Above the Ground - Mary Stewart This Rough Magic - Mary Stewart The Ivy Tree - Mary Stewart Merlin Trilogy - Mary Stewart Nine Coaches Waiting (Rediscovered Classics) - Sandra Brown, Mary Stewart

I loved her for her literate romantic suspense, and then for her Merlin books. From the opening of the NY Times obit:

Mary Stewart, the British author of romantic thrillers who jumped genres in her 50s to create the internationally best-selling trilogy of Merlin books, reimagining the Arthurian legend from a sorcerer’s point of view, died on May 9 at her home in the village of Loch Awe, on the west coast of Scotland. She was 97.
