Eager reader of history, mystery, classics, biographies, steampunk, lit fic, science, scifi, and etc. My reviews are mostly positive--I rarely finish or write about books I don't enjoy. My TBR is too high for that.

The Glass Castle

The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls This book caused me some can't-look-away cognitive dissonance. Though the author's parents are incredibly neglectful (when she 4 or 5 and too short to reach the top of the stove the author is severely burned while cooking herself a hot dog)and somewhat crazy (and then her father snatched her from the hospital where she was being treated because he didn't trust them)the self-sufficiency and independence this demanded of Jeannette Walls helped make her strong, thoughtful, successful and resourceful. Not all of her siblings fared as well though. A gripping story.
